Exhibition: Wall Space

Please join us for the opening reception of Wall Space, a group exhibition featuring the work of Anita Allyn, Christian Boltanski, Common Knowledge, Micah Danges, Luis Gispert, Daniel Gordon and Julie Weitz. The exhibition will remain on view until Saturday, February 26, 2011.

Wall Space brings together eight artists whose work exists between the boundaries of photography, sculpture and painting, often blurring the lines between the 2nd and 3rd dimensions. In many cases, the works in Wall Space begin as photographs but are transformed into something with radically different intentions. In this exhibition, images are created, borrowed and stolen to produce screen prints, protest posters, domestic tableaus, large-scale paintings, installations and sculptures. Wall Space explores an image-based culture reflecting youth identity, loss and distortion with political undertones.

Friday a.m. skate at POP’S.  We had the whole place to ourselves!

I took a trip to SF in late February.  One of the highlights was spending a nice afternoon/evening printing at Hamburger Eyes with Rebecca and Dan.  It had been a while since I printed in the darkroom, good times for sure.  Big ups to Stefan and Ray who run the whole damn thing.  If you are not familiar with H.E. do your homework because you’re missing out.

These pics are taken from Becky’s studio in Richmond/Oakland area.  She has a bunch of new paintings going on and they look great.  It’s nice to see the work in progress, I’m looking forward to the show.
